MU Online events on UnrealMu: Blood Castle, Devil Square, Chaos Castle and the rest

The events were always where MU Online felt like a shared adventure. Here is what actually runs on our server, how to enter, and when each one opens.

Ask any veteran what they remember about MU Online beyond the grind and the answer is usually an event: the countdown message in chat, the scramble to the Archangel's door, the shout when the Devil Square gate opened. MU Online events were the moments the whole server stopped hunting and ran in the same direction. This guide covers the events that genuinely exist on UnrealMu, drawn from the server's own configuration, so you know what to plan for and what not to wait for.

UnrealMu is an unofficial, fan-run server and is not affiliated with Webzen. It runs Season 6 Episode 3 on three realms (Hard 5x, Classic 100x and Fast 1000x) that share one account. If you are new to the realms, start with our realms and resets guide.

What is running, at a glance

We checked the plug-in configuration and game data of all three realms. The scheduled events are identical on every realm. All times below are server time, and they are the times the game itself uses to open each event.

Levels in the table are the lowest entry level of the lowest room, for classes using the standard brackets. Details for each event follow.

Blood Castle

For many players Blood Castle is the event that defines the early game. You race a party through the castle gates, carry the Archangel's weapon past the guards and hand it in before time runs out. It is short, loud and a little frantic, and it rewards coordination more than raw level.

Rooms and levels. There are eight Blood Castle rooms. Room 1 is for levels 15 to 80, room 2 for 81 to 130, room 3 for 131 to 180, room 4 for 181 to 230, room 5 for 231 to 280, room 6 for 281 to 330 and room 7 for 331 to 400. Room 8 is for master-class characters at level 331 and above. Magic Gladiators and Dark Lords have slightly lower brackets (for example room 1 starts at level 10 and room 2 at level 61).

How to enter. Each room needs an Invisibility Cloak ticket of the matching room level. Parties are allowed, up to 10 players per game, and the entrance fee in zen is zero. The entrance window is short, so be ready a minute or two before the hour mark.

When. The entrance opens every two hours, from 00:00 to 22:00, and the game lasts about 20 minutes.

Devil Square

Devil Square is the arena for people who love to hunt in a crowd: a walled courtyard, waves of monsters and a ranking at the end that decides who did the most. It was the first place many of us saw what a well-geared party looked like in motion.

Rooms and levels. There are seven rooms. Room 1 is for levels 15 to 130, room 2 for 131 to 180, room 3 for 181 to 230, room 4 for 231 to 280, room 5 for 281 to 330 and room 6 for 331 to 400. Room 7 is for master-class characters. Magic Gladiators and Dark Lords again have lower brackets (room 1 starts at level 10).

How to enter. You need a Devil's Invitation of the right level for your room, and Charon, the gatekeeper NPC, stands in Noria at about (171,105). Parties are allowed, up to 10 players per game, and there is no zen entrance fee.

When. The entrance opens every four hours: 00:00, 04:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00. A game runs about 20 minutes.

Chaos Castle

Chaos Castle is the last-one-standing event: a crumbling floor, no parties, and everyone in the room against everyone else. It remains one of the most tense things the original game ever did. It is also the one event on this list that costs zen.

Rooms, levels and fees. There are seven rooms, entered through the Chaos Goblin in Noria, near (180,103).

  • Room 1: levels 15 to 49, fee 25,000 zen
  • Room 2: levels 50 to 119, fee 80,000 zen
  • Room 3: levels 120 to 179, fee 150,000 zen
  • Room 4: levels 180 to 239, fee 250,000 zen
  • Room 5: levels 240 to 299, fee 400,000 zen
  • Room 6: levels 300 to 400, fee 650,000 zen
  • Room 7: master-class characters at level 400, fee 1,000,000 zen

Magic Gladiators and Dark Lords have lower brackets here too. Up to 70 players can join, parties are not allowed, and the entry window is five minutes. The game itself lasts about 10 minutes.

When. The entrance opens every hour, on the hour, around the clock.

Kanturu and Maya

Kanturu is the endgame dungeon of the Season 3 era: ruined towers, the Refinery Tower, then Maya and the Nightmare. On UnrealMu the Refinery Tower is available as a timed event for characters of level 350 to 400, with up to 15 players. The entrance opens every six hours: 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00. The event runs in phases (monsters, then Maya's hands, then the Nightmare zone), each with its own time limit, so bring a party that can clear the waves quickly.

Kanturu is a late-game goal, not a starter event. Our classes guide is a good place to plan the character that gets you there.

Crywolf Fortress

Crywolf is the defence event: Balgass's army marches on the fortress and the players of the server stand between it and the statue. Our configuration schedules it on Wednesday and Saturday at 20:30 server time, with a ten minute warning, a two and a half minute ready phase and a battle of about fifteen minutes. Altar contracts need a character of level 260 or more in one of the classes the event allows, which is the signature Crywolf job. If you remember defending the statue with a line of archers behind the gate, this is that.

Castle Siege

Castle Siege is the event that made guilds matter. Our server has it enabled, with the Valley of Loren castle and guardsmen in place. It runs on a weekly cycle rather than a single time slot:

  • Monday: guild registration opens
  • Wednesday: guilds register their Marks of Lord to decide the attackers (up to three attacking guilds)
  • Friday: players are notified that the siege is coming
  • Saturday 18:00: the siege map opens for preparation
  • Saturday 20:00: the battle starts
  • Saturday 22:00: the battle ends, and the cycle closes a few minutes later at 22:05

The registration settings call for a minimum of 20 guild members and level 200. It is a guild event: you need a guild, coordination and a plan for the crown switches. The schedule is the same on all three realms, but each realm runs its own siege with its own castle owner.

Doppelganger and Imperial Guardian

Two party dungeons from the later seasons are also present. They do not have a fixed timetable in our configuration; you enter them when you have a group.

Doppelganger. A short, frantic defence where a herd of monsters pushes towards a goal and you have to stop them. It accepts any level from 1 to 400, up to five players, and parties are allowed.

Imperial Guardian. A fortress run that changes its zone with the day of the week, following the server's clock. It needs a party (it is configured as party required), characters of level 150 or higher, and up to five players. On Sundays the experience reward is doubled.

Invasions, Happy Hour and the Lorencia event

Beyond the mini-games, the world itself has visitors. These run on a timetable and apply to all three realms:

  • Golden invasion: golden monsters (including the Golden Budge Dragon) appear in Lorencia every four hours, starting at 00:00, for 30 minutes.
  • Red Dragon invasion: at 02:00, 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00, for 30 minutes, in Lorencia, Noria and Devias.
  • White Wizard invasion: every two hours from 12:00 to 22:00, for 30 minutes.
  • Happy Hour: a one-hour experience bonus of 1.5x, starting at 00:05, 06:05, 12:05 and 18:05.

There is also a community event of our own in Lorencia. A host character gathers a party on the floor and sets off fireworks while jewels and boxes drop, and now and then a short monster hunt appears on Lorencia, Devias or Noria. Its pace depends on the realm: the Lorencia floor party repeats every 120 minutes on Hard 5x, every 90 minutes on Classic 100x and every 60 minutes on Fast 1000x. The hunt repeats every 90, 60 and 45 minutes respectively. It is a small, friendly thing meant to make the starting town feel alive. If you are heading there, see Remember Lorencia and our maps and hunting spots guide.

What is not part of our server

Illusion Temple is not available: the maps are in the data, but no game or schedule is configured for it. We have not verified rewards for the other events, so we do not list them; check the in-game messages and ticket tooltips instead. Built-in bot players keep the world busy, and they are shown separately from real players in the rankings.

Tips for a good first run

  • Check your level against the bracket before you spend a ticket.
  • Bring a party to Blood Castle, Devil Square, Doppelganger and Imperial Guardian; go solo to Chaos Castle.
  • Keep zen on you for Chaos Castle, which charges at the door.
  • Be at the entrance a couple of minutes early, because the windows are short.
  • Remember that events are in server time, so convert before you plan around them.

For the bigger picture of why these events mattered, read the golden age of MU Online, or see server info for the realms' current settings.

Kundun box rewards

Kundun boxes +1 to +5 always open into one excellent +0 equipment item. Luck and excellent-option chances differ by realm. Check the full item pools and realm chances before your next hunt.

Frequently asked questions

How often does Blood Castle open on UnrealMu?

The Blood Castle entrance opens every two hours, on the even hours (00:00, 02:00, up to 22:00 server time). The schedule is the same on Hard 5x, Classic 100x and Fast 1000x.

Is Illusion Temple available?

No. The Illusion Temple maps exist in the game data, but there is no Illusion Temple game or start schedule configured on our server, so we do not offer it.

What level do I need for Devil Square and Blood Castle?

Both are split into brackets by level. Devil Square 1 starts at level 15 and Blood Castle 1 starts at level 15, and the higher rooms step up to level 400. Magic Gladiators and Dark Lords use slightly lower brackets.

When is Castle Siege held?

Castle Siege is enabled and runs on a weekly cycle: guild registration early in the week, then the battle on Saturday, with the siege map opening at 18:00, the battle starting at 20:00 and ending at 22:00 server time.

Do the events run on all three realms?

Yes. The scheduled mini-games and invasions use the same timetable on Hard 5x, Classic 100x and Fast 1000x. Only the Lorencia community event differs, and it runs more often on the faster realms.

Does Chaos Castle cost anything to enter?

Yes, Chaos Castle charges an entrance fee in zen that rises with the room, from 25,000 zen in room 1 up to 1,000,000 zen in room 7. There is no cash shop on UnrealMu.
