UNREALMU PLAYER PORTAL
Realms and Resets: Which MU Online Server to Choose
UnrealMu has three realms on one account: Hard 5x, Classic 100x and Fast 1000x. Here is who each is for, how the numbers compare, and how free resets work.
The big choice on UnrealMu is which realm to start in: Hard 5x, Classic 100x or Fast 1000x. All three run Season 6 Episode 3 with the same maps, monsters and rules, and all three share one account. What changes is how quickly experience arrives, and that changes the whole shape of the game, from how long you linger in Lorencia to how soon resets come into view.
UnrealMu is an unofficial, fan-run server and is not affiliated with Webzen. The numbers below were read directly from the live server settings, so they describe what is running rather than what we hope for.
The three realms side by side
| Hard 5x | Classic 100x | Fast 1000x | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Experience rate | 5x | 100x | 1000x |
| Master experience rate | 1x | 10x | 50x |
| Level cap | 400 | 400 | 400 |
| Master level cap | 200 | 200 | 200 |
| Master experience from monsters of level | 95 and above | 95 and above | 95 and above |
| Free resets (level 400 to 1) | Up to 100 | Up to 100 | Up to 100 |
| Starting point | Existing characters live here | Fresh start | Fresh start |
Two things are worth noticing. First, the caps are identical, so a level 400 character on Hard 5x is exactly as high as one on Fast 1000x. You are choosing how long the road is, not where it ends. Second, the master experience rate does not rise in step with the normal rate. Master levels come much more slowly than ordinary levels on every realm, which keeps the endgame from collapsing at the higher rates.
Item drop settings are shared too: the realm databases carry no separate drop configuration, so drops are not tuned differently per realm. We have only the settings to go on here, and we are not quoting drop percentages we have not measured.
Hard 5x: the original realm
Hard 5x is where the server began, and where existing characters and progress live. Five times experience is gentle by private server standards: levelling takes real evenings, equipment matters, and a Dark Wizard's first few levels in Lorencia still feel like an accomplishment. It is the realm for people who remember the rhythm of the early game and want that rhythm back, with a bit of a tailwind.
Choose it if you want time to enjoy each map, to hunt in company and to build a character slowly. If your idea of MU is the walk from Lorencia to Devias to Noria with your friends, start here. The maps and hunting spots guide and the classes guide are written with this pace in mind.
Classic 100x: a fast but real climb
Classic 100x is a fresh start at a hundred times experience. Levels fall quickly, but you still pass through the maps, still find the places where each stage of the game belongs, and still have to think about where to stand and what to fight. Master experience is ten times, so the master tree is within reach without being handed over.
It suits veterans with limited time who want to reach the late game within days rather than months, and players who want to try a new class without a long grind. If you searched for a "mu online 100x server", this is the realm that matches.
Fast 1000x: straight to the endgame
Fast 1000x is also a fresh start, at a thousand times experience, with master experience at fifty times. Reaching level 400 happens very quickly, which means the real game here is resets: building, resetting, building again. It is for people who find the levelling stage tedious and want to spend their time on the later parts of the game, on events and on testing builds.
It is not the realm for savouring Lorencia. It is the realm for answering questions like "what does this build look like at fifty resets?" without waiting weeks to find out.
How free resets work
A reset is a way to start a character's climb again while keeping what matters. It is the same on all three realms. The rules, as configured on the server:
- A character must reach level 400 to reset.
- The reset returns the character to level 1.
- The cap is 100 resets per character.
- Each reset grants 500 bonus stat points, and the bonus is cumulative, so the total grows with every reset you complete.
- Your items, skills and master progress are kept.
- It costs no money and no special item. The server charges nothing for a reset.
The practical effect is that a reset is an investment rather than a penalty. You give up levels, which on a high rate realm come back fast, and in return you carry a growing pool of stat points into the next climb, with your gear and master tree untouched.
The same spirit applies to character services. Unsticking a stuck character, clearing PK status, allocating or refunding points and resetting the master tree are all free. There is no cash shop on UnrealMu, so none of this is a funnel toward spending.
One account, separate characters per realm
You register once at the registration page, and the same login works in every realm. Inside each realm, however, characters, wallets and progression are separate. A character on Classic 100x does not exist on Hard 5x, and a character cannot be moved between realms. This is a feature as much as a limit: it means you can try Fast 1000x for an afternoon without touching a character you have grown carefully elsewhere.
The rankings separate real players from the built-in bot players that keep the world busy, so you can always tell who is who. You can see the standings on the rankings page, and general server details are on the server info page.
What resets mean in practice
Resets are a private server tradition rather than part of the original game, and they split opinion among veterans. Some feel they undo the meaning of a level; others enjoy them as a long project with a clear ladder of one hundred rungs. UnrealMu keeps the system simple and generous so that it never becomes a chore: no fee, no item to hunt down, no countdown. You reach 400, you reset, and you are back at level 1 with more stat points than before.
Because the reset cap is 100 and the rule is the same everywhere, the rate of the realm decides how long that ladder takes, not whether it is possible. On Hard 5x it is a long-term journey. On Classic 100x it is a campaign measured in weeks of casual play. On Fast 1000x each lap is brief, so the ladder is climbed by repetition. We do not give hour estimates because they depend on class, party, map and how you play.
A sensible way to start
If you are new here, one reasonable plan is to register, open the browser client and make a first character on the realm that matches your free time. Spend an evening with it. If the pace feels wrong, either too slow or too quick, nothing is lost: make another character on a different realm with the same login. Because progression is separate, there is no penalty for experimenting, and the choice is far less final than it first looks.
Which realm should you choose?
- You want to savour the old game: Hard 5x.
- You want a quick but still meaningful climb: Classic 100x.
- You want resets and builds, not levelling: Fast 1000x.
- You are not sure: pick the one nearest your free time, and remember that trying a second realm costs nothing.
Whichever you pick, you can play straight from your browser without a download; see how to play MU Online in your browser. And if you are still deciding whether to come back at all, the golden age of MU Online may tip the balance.
Kundun box rewards
Boxes +1 to +5 always give one excellent +0 equipment item, with no Zen or jewels. Skill is guaranteed where the item supports it. Luck applies to equipment that supports Luck.
| Realm | Luck | 1 excellent option | 2 excellent options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hard 5x | 20% | 90% | 10% |
| Classic 100x | 35% | 75% | 25% |
| Fast 1000x | 50% | 50% | 50% |
Box tier selects the equipment pool. Luck and excellent-option count are independent rolls. These boxes give at most two excellent options. See every Kundun box reward and the full drop rules.
Frequently asked questions
Which realm should I choose?
Choose Hard 5x for a slow, traditional climb, Classic 100x for a fast but still meaningful progression, and Fast 1000x if you want to reach level 400 and start resetting almost immediately. Since the account is shared, you can try more than one.
How do resets work on UnrealMu?
Once a character reaches level 400 it can reset back to level 1. The cap is 100 resets, each reset grants 500 bonus stat points (cumulative), and your items, skills and master progress are kept. Resets are free.
Do I need a separate account for each realm?
No. You register once and the same login works in all three realms. Characters, wallets and progression are separate in each realm.
Are resets or character services paid?
No. Resets, unstick, clearing PK, allocating or refunding points and resetting the master tree are all free, and there is no cash shop.
What is the maximum level?
The normal level cap is 400 and the master level cap is 200 on all three realms. What differs between realms is the experience rate, not the caps.
Can I move a character between realms?
No. Each realm keeps its own characters, wallets and progression, so a character in one realm does not appear in another. You can start a fresh character in each realm with the same account.
