UNREALMU PLAYER PORTAL

Play MU Online on Steam Deck

The Steam Deck is a 64-bit Linux PC, so you can play UnrealMu on it in the browser or with the native Linux client, using the same account and characters as on Windows and Mac.

UnrealMu is a free Season 6 Episode 3 MU Online server with three realms (Hard 5x, Classic 100x and Fast 1000x). The Steam Deck runs desktop Linux on a 64-bit PC processor, so there are two good ways to play: in the browser, or with the native Linux client. Your account and characters are the same on every device.

Option 1: Play in the browser (quickest)

  1. Hold the power button and choose Switch to Desktop.
  2. Open a browser (Firefox or Chrome from the Discover store).
  3. Create your account, then open the browser client and pick a realm.
  4. The first load downloads the game data and keeps it cached for next time. It needs WebGL 2, which the Deck provides.

Option 2: Use the Linux client

  1. In Desktop Mode, open the downloads page and get the full Linux client. It already includes music and sound.
  2. Extract the archive and run Play.command. After this first install the launcher updates itself.
  3. The client needs desktop OpenGL, GLEW and libturbojpeg. If a library is missing, install it for your system or use the browser instead.

Add it to Game Mode

In Desktop Mode open Steam, choose Add a Game, Add a Non-Steam Game, and add your browser or the Linux client. It then appears in your library and starts from Game Mode.

Controls on the Steam Deck

  • Use the right trackpad as the mouse, and map a trigger to right-click. Skills such as Triple Shot are cast with the right mouse button.
  • Bind + and - (camera zoom) and the F keys to buttons in your Steam Input layout.
  • Use the on-screen keyboard (Steam + X) for chat.

Why play MU Online on a Steam Deck?

You can hunt in Lorencia on the couch, then continue the same character on your PC. Read the Windows, Linux and Mac guide or the beginner guide to get started.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play MU Online on Steam Deck?

Yes. Switch to Desktop Mode and play UnrealMu in the browser with no install, or download the Linux client. Both use the same account and characters.

Browser or Linux client on Steam Deck?

The browser needs nothing installed and is the quickest way to start. The Linux client is a full download with music and sound that then updates itself, and it may need GLEW and libturbojpeg available on your system.

Can I use the Deck's controls?

MU Online is a mouse game. Use the trackpad as the mouse and map a trigger to right-click in the Steam Input layout, because skills are cast with the right mouse button. A keyboard (on-screen or Bluetooth) helps for chat.

Can I play in Game Mode?

Add the browser or the Linux client as a non-Steam game from Desktop Mode, then launch it from your library like any other game.

Do I need a separate account?

No. Register once on the website and the same login works on Steam Deck, Windows, Mac, Linux and in the browser, on all three realms.
